The Open Access Publishing Fund (OAPF) continues to play a vital role in amplifying the visibility and impact of Clemson researchers’ scholarly work. By supporting open scholarship, the fund directly aligns with Clemson’s strategic goals —empowering faculty, students, and research teams to share knowledge freely and contribute meaningfully to the global research community.
We’re excited to announce important updates to the OAPF application process and evaluation rubric. These enhancements are informed by a recent survey and comparative benchmarking study designed to better understand the needs and priorities of OAPF applicants across the university.
Funded primarily by Clemson Libraries, with additional support from the Division of Research, the OAPF reflects a strong institutional commitment to open access publishing. The updated process is designed to better align with the evolving landscape of open scholarship at Clemson. The new application and rubric emphasize clarity, equity, and responsiveness to the diverse goals of Clemson researchers.
Clemson Libraries remain dedicated to supporting faculty, researchers, and students in their open access publishing efforts. We invite all eligible colleagues to apply for funding during the current fiscal year. Awardees are encouraged to deposit a copy of their articles in Clemson OPEN, the university’s institutional repository, which adds another layer of visibility and discoverability to their research.
In further support of open publishing, Clemson Libraries has also implemented a Transformative Agreement service, which now includes 11 agreements with top publishers, expanding access and reducing costs for Clemson authors.
