Exhibits

Cooper Library is now home to new Glasbau Hahn museum-quality exhibit cases, located in the exit lobby on the main (4th floor). The first exhibit launched the 60th anniversary of integration which is an important landmark in the history of Clemson University. New custom built cases were installed in the lobby outside of Special Collections and Archives on the first floor of Strom Thurmond Institute. In addition, the Kislak Family Foundation gifted the libraries with more museum-quality cases which will be placed in key locations in the near future.

Study Space Improvements

Reading Room officially opened in January 2022 with tables and chairs that originated in the first main library located in Sikes Hall.  Original bankers chairs were upfit with padded seat cushions for comfort.  Tables now have power available on top as well as lamps which provide power outlets.  Comfortable chairs were reallocated from other parts of Cooper.

Popular magazines moved from the 4th floor to 5th floor to complement the coffee shop atmosphere.  Newspapers are also located there.

Maker Space operations moved into the Adobe Digital Studio in summer of 2022.  New furniture was purchased as well as a new glass curtain wall with doors to provide security for the equipment.  The maker space move also means that 500M is now a study room for student use.

Writing Lab officially moved to Cooper 3rd floor in August 2022.  They are officially our partners and will complement the Learning Commons in the future.

Social Media Listening Center moved to Cooper 5th floor behind Starbucks in August 2022.

Bright orange with white directories are in place on most floors to aid with way-finding.

Eight new PODs (four 2-person; four 4-person) are in place on Cooper 6th floor.

Red Softwall dividers were installed on the Cooper 5th floor study cubbies.

Two new study rooms were installed on Cooper 4th floor along the back wall.

401 Byrnes Room is now available for student bookings during the evenings and weekends.

Student printers and large format scanners on the 4th floor moved to the east side (Daniel Hall annex) to complement the technology, such as community computers, Mac’s, Pc’s, and large format scanners, already located there.

416 Brown Room (University classroom) was renovated to include new technology, furniture, paint and carpet.

Two height-adjustable tables are now available in the 4th floor east study space. Look for the accessible logo.

Sensory friendly products such as adjustable lighting, tactile rulers and bobble chairs were installed in the 5th floor study cubbies.

Government Documents collection  and shelving moved to the Library Depot which opened up approximately 2,000 feet of student space on the 3rd floor.

More flexible tables on wheels were moved into the 204 Classroom.

Learning Commons opened in Fall 2023.  Existing furniture and select items were placed in zones.  Visit the Learning Commons on 3rd floor for more information.  A new service desk is now in place.

Nineteen height adjustable round tables were incorporated into existing furniture.  Look for new signage to identify the tables coming soon.

All study and meeting rooms now have dimmer switches!
