Position Description and Duties |
The Data Visualization Lab (DVL) at Clemson University Libraries is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Graduate Student Assistant to support data literacy, visualization, and technology services on campus. This role is ideal for students who enjoy working with data, learning visualization tools, and helping others succeed in their academic and research projects. You will work closely with the Data Visualization Specialist & DVL Manager to provide consultations, create learning resources, support workshops, and help maintain the Lab’s growing ecosystem of services and tools. What you will do? > Provide Data Visualization Support > Assist students, faculty, and staff during in-person and virtual consultations > Help users navigate tools like Power BI, Python, R, Tableau, Excel, Qualtrics, and others > Troubleshoot common technical or workflow issues > Support Workshops & Training > Help prepare materials, datasets, and examples for workshops > Assist with event setup, coordination, and participant support > Guide beginners and answer user questions during sessions Develop Learning Resources > Create tutorials, documentation, sample dashboards, and guides > Build templates for visualizations and project examples >Contribute to the DVL’s online knowledge base and learning resources Lab Operations & Innovation > Maintain lab equipment, software, and workspace readiness > Support special projects (AI tools, competitions, outreach events, etc.) > Suggest improvements to enhance user experience in the DVL Preferred Skills (You don’t need to know everything—just be eager to learn!)
