Clemson Libraries has named Linda Needham as its new records officer, responsible for overseeing the University’s Records Management program, which ensures that the University is following all state and federal laws and policies regarding the retention and disposal of official records.
Needham previously worked for Macquarie Asset Management Europe as document management and information governance manager. She has also held positions with the British Council in both the United Kingdom and Germany, Oxford University Bodleian Libraries, the British Library, the University of Birmingham and Birmingham City Council in Birmingham, England. In the U.S., Needham has worked for the National Archives and Records Administration and with Harvard University.
Needham earned her Ph.D. in history of art from the Barber Institute of Fine Arts at the University of Birmingham, her Master of Library Science from the University of Maryland, a Master of Arts in art history from George Washington University and a Bachelor of Arts in art history from the University of Florida.
Needham has been recognized with several awards over the course of her career, including the Millennium Award from the Barber Institute at the University of Birmingham and the Archivist’s Achievement Award from the National Archives and Records Administration.
Part of Special Collections and Archives, Records Management offers information and guidance on the management, retention and disposition of official University records. The program also assists with storage of University records in compliance with state regulations, consultations on managing both physical and electronic records, and training on best practices with record keeping.
