This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a significant research project with implications for the library field. The Graduate Research Assistant will report to the Project Principal Investigator. Tentative starting date for the position is March 2, 2026.

Position Description and Duties

Project Overview This position supports a one-year, IMLS-funded mixed methods study examining the workforce of minoritized academic library support staff. The project builds upon the successful completion of a prior IMLS planning grant. Position Description: Graduate Research Assistant/Associate The Graduate Research Assistant will play a valuable role in the data analysis phase of the project. Some travel may be involved. Primary responsibilities include: • Data management and analysis: Assist the project team in developing a coding scheme to categorize and organize survey data. Employ descriptive statistics to summarize key survey responses. Help prepare initial reports and visualizations. • Data integration: Analyzing quantitative and qualitative data collected during the planning grant phase. Integrate data from external sources such as IPEDS, the U.S. Census, and the Bureau of Labor Statistics. • Dissemination: Assist in updating the project website with initial survey findings. Minimum Qualifications • Must be a currently enrolled, Clemson University graduate student • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Sociology, or a related field. • Strong quantitative and qualitative research methods skills. • Experience with statistical software packages (e.g., SPSS, R, STATA). • Experience with qualitative data analysis software (e.g., Dedoose, NVivo). • Excellent written and oral communication skills. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Preferred Qualifications • Experience with mixed methods research. • Familiarity with academic libraries and their workforce.
