Publish Smart, Publish Open: Libraries to host lunch and learn on Open Access and Transformative Agreements with IGI Global

Researchers at Clemson will have the opportunity to learn about publishing their work through IGI Global Scientific Publishing in an online lunch and learn workshop on Wednesday, April 22, from 12-12:30 p.m.

The workshop is titled “Navigating Open Access Publishing: IGI Global Scientific Publishing” and will be lead by Mikaela Vargo, director of acquisitions, and Savannah Pecknold, IGI’s communication coordinator of open science publishing at IGI Global Scientific Publishing. Amal Mostafa, scholarly communications librarian for Clemson Libraries, will serve as moderator. The workshop is free and open to all Clemson faculty and students. Click here to register.

The workshop will provide an overview of scholarship publishing, specifically supporting researchers interested in publishing with IGI. The session will cover the following topics:

  • Benefits of publishing with IGI Global Scientific Publishing
  • Open access publishing charges and what they cover
  • Open access funding programs and Clemson’s Open Access Agreement with IGI
  • What researchers should consider before submitting
  • Journal expectations
  • Article and book publishing processes
  • Peer review models.

Earlier this year, Clemson entered an Open Access Agreement with IGI Global Scientific Publishing, which provides Article Processing Charge (APC) funding support for researchers publishing in IGI’s Open Access Journal Program. The program includes nearly 200 journals in the areas of business and management, science, technology and medicine, and education and social sciences.
