The Clemson Libraries’ Open Access (OA) Publishing Fund supports faculty and graduate students in disseminating their scholarly work by helping to cover article processing charges (APCs) for open access publications. By reducing financial barriers to publication, the fund ensures that Clemson research is freely accessible to scholars, students, policymakers, and practitioners worldwide. Open Access aligns with institutional priorities related to research visibility, impact, and public engagement. It is also central to the broader international Open Science movement, as governments, funding agencies, and global organizations increasingly require or encourage open dissemination of research outputs. When scholarship is openly available, it reaches broader audiences, facilitates interdisciplinary and international collaboration, accelerates innovation and discovery, and enhances real-world impact.
