More than 100 attend second Piedmont Publishing Symposium

More than 100 authors, publishers and students attended the Piedmont Publishing Symposium held at Wofford College May 20-21. Now in its second year, the symposium was hosted by Clemson University Press in partnership with Hub City Press, University of North Georgia Press, and University of South Carolina Press.

The symposium was created for publishing professionals, new and established authors and anyone interested in the field of publishing. A variety of sessions and panel discussions covered topics such as self-publishing, copyright issues and marketing.

Kaitlyn Dubois, a library specialist for Clemson Libraries, has attended both years of the symposium.

“I absolutely adore the Piedmont Publishing Symposium,” she said. “It’s a rewarding experience where I walk away knowing more about the world of contemporary literature and novel-making that I believe would benefit many others to learn as well.”

The symposium was made possible by the contributions of several sponsors and partners, including regional publishers, university presses, literary associations and organizations, and others. The sponsors for the symposium included the Charleston Literary Festival, South Carolina Writers Association, South Carolina Humanities, University of North Carolina Press, University of South Carolina, Layman Publishing Partners, Lucky Rabbit Publishing, Athenaeum Press of Coastal Carolina University, Association of University Presses, All Good Books, and Clemson Libraries.

The 3rd annual Piedmont Publishing Symposium will take place at Emory University May 12-13, 2027.
