Data Visualization Lab to host workshops

When doing research, it’s important to collect accurate information, but it’s equally vital to present that data in an effective manner that showcases the results for all to understand. The mission of the Data Visualization Lab is to do exactly that: provide a collaborative space to help students, faculty and staff turn data into insights.

Located in room 413 of Cooper Library, the Data Visualization Lab is open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and hosts workshops related to data analysis, visualization and digital research methods. In addition to the scheduled workshops listed below, the lab also offers support for data services such as Excel and Tableau, as well as a 3D modeling table, the Anatomage Table and large presentation screens.

The Lab is hosting the following workshops this semester:

  • September 26: workshop on Python from 1 – 2 p.m.
  • October 15: workshop on Power BI from 10 – 11 a.m.
  • November 18: workshop on R from 10 – 11 a.m.
  • December 4: workshop on Qualtrics from 10 – 11 a.m.

Alongside these workshops, walk-in support is available during open hours, as well as a help request form for those who need more intensive assistance. The lab is staffed with graduate student assistants trained in many areas of data visualization who are equipped to assist researchers of all skill levels.
