Clemson Libraries is currently testing a new study solution on the fourth floor near the Data Visualization Lab. The Silen booth, on loan until May, offers students, faculty and staff a private, sound-isolated space for focused study, online meetings, and more.
The booth features acoustic design that blocks external noise while containing sound within, making it ideal for both quiet study and activities that might disturb others in traditional library spaces.
“We’re excited to test this booth as a potential new option for quiet study and meeting space,” said Shamella Cromartie, associate dean for organizational performance and administration. “The feedback we gather will be used to determine whether or not we want to purchase some of these booths, so I encourage people to give it a try and let us know what they think.”
Patrons who use the Silen booth are encouraged to scan the QR code located inside to complete a brief survey about their experience with the Silen booth.
