Librarians from across the country will gather at Clemson this May for the 9th Annual Empirical Librarians Conference. The conference focuses on librarians as researchers, supporting and showcasing their original research in the field of library and information science.
“We are excited to host this conference at Clemson to shine a spotlight on the great research happening across the country in libraries,” said Clemson Libraries Dean Chris Cox. “Most people don’t think of librarians as researchers, but there is a lot of interesting and outstanding work happening in our field, on everything from the impact of AI in libraries to patron support to recruiting people to work in libraries. I am proud to bring this conference to Clemson.”
“Clemson has such a great history as a research institution and as a research library, doing amazing work in researcher support. It also has some incredible librarian-scholars,” said Nina Exner, research data librarian at Virginia Commonwealth University and chair of the conference. “The Empirical Librarians Conference is about that intersection, that we get better at supporting researchers as we do research, and we do better research the more we support researchers. So that makes the Clemson Libraries a natural fit as hosts for our conference.”
The conference will held May 13-14 in a hybrid format — participants can attend in person or virtually. For more information or to register, visit https://emplibs.wordpress.com.
