Did you know that the world’s largest seeds can weigh up to 40 pounds? Or how about the fact that seeds can tell time? Some plants won’t germinate until they experience certain environmental conditions, like cold winters or fire, a strategy called dormancy. Seeds can also travel far, hitching rides on animals, floating on water, or even flying with the wind.
Seeds are incredible, and now they’re taking root at Cooper Library. In partnership with the Horticulture Club, Clemson Libraries is excited to announce the introduction of a seed library. Located in the Learning Commons on the third floor of Cooper, this will be a space where library patrons can choose seeds to nurture and grow. The seed library aims to foster a community where students, faculty, staff and local residents can connect over a shared love for plants.
The seed library will launch at the Grow in Success Fair on Tuesday, March 24, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
