Clemson students, faculty and staff will notice some changes the next time they log in to the Clemson Libraries website to use electronic resources such as databases and electronic journals.
As of August 3, 2026, all users on campus will be required to sign in using their University user ID and password and authenticate their login with Duo. In the past, the Libraries used IP-based passthrough authentication that allowed on-campus users to access e-resources without logging in.
The change is being made to enhance security for the Libraries’ licensed electronic resources. Security breaches that compromise those resources could result in publishers cutting off access for the University if licensing terms are violated.
This change does not affect the community access computers located on the fourth floor of Cooper Library. Patrons using those computers will still be able to access resources without logging in.
