Recent retiree Teri Alexander and Clemson alumna Kathy Hunter were both recognized by the South Carolina Library Association (SCLA) at the 2025 SCLA Conference in Columbia in October.
Alexander received the SCLA Legacy of Service Award, which is presented to employees who have worked in South Carolina libraries for 30 years or more. Alexander retired as Director of Learning Environments for Clemson Libraries in 2024 after 37 years of service. A graduate of Berea College in Kentucky, Alexander started in the circulation department in 1987 and held a number of roles over the course of her career.
As Director of Learning Environments, Alexander was responsible for managing the Libraries’ six facilities, overseeing renovation projects and maintenance for the buildings.
Hunter received the Friends of the Libraries Award Honorable Mention, which recognizes outstanding service to a library by a donor or volunteer. Hunter has been a long-standing member of the Clemson Friends of the Libraries Board of Directors, previously serving as chair.
Hunter and her husband, Jody, recently pledged to match up to $50,000 in gifts to support hiring student assistants to work for Clemson Libraries.
“It is wonderful to see both Teri and Kathy recognized at the state level for their service to Clemson Libraries,” said Dean Chris Cox. “They both have made a tremendous impact on the Libraries in their own ways over the years, and that impact is felt by everyone across campus who uses the Libraries.”
