Clemson University Press

Clemson University Press started with the support of a loyal group of donors and patrons. Your generosity allows us to continue growing and diversifying our publishing program to include more books of broad regional and national interest, first-rate scholarship, and award-winning creative work. As Clemson University Press distributes globally thousands of books each year bearing the University’s trademark, your gift will also help us to increase the University’s national and international reputation. Your support also allows us to publish open-access, peer-reviewed journals, which democratize access to research.

What impact does your support have? It allows us:

  • to acquire, promote, and distribute impactful, cutting-edge research.
  • to publish open-access content so that more information is fully and equally accessible.
  • to publish literary works that promote our state and region as a cultural center.
  • to provide hands-on experiential learning opportunities to students.
  • to support guest speakers and other initiatives that make a Clemson education exceptional.

If you share our commitment to publishing sterling research; to creating a more equitable society by making research openly available; and to engaging students in meaningful, hands-on professional development, please consider the following opportunities to support our mission.

Buy Clemson University Press Books

Our books include the University’s official history, guide books, cook books, poetry collections, and first-rate scholarly books. Browse our books, and buy books for yourself or as gifts. All revenue generated from book sales goes directly toward building our publishing program.

Sponsor a Book

As a mission-based publisher, we value service over sales figures. In assessing a book for publication, we prioritize its potential for impact on our region and/or on a scholarly field. Your gift would support the publication of a single book by defraying considerable editorial and costs, allowing us to market the book at an affordable retail price. Gifts of $500 or more will be acknowledged in the published book. Please contact Alison Mero, Director of Clemson University Press, to learn about forthcoming books that you may wish to sponsor.

Sponsor a Named Series

Clemson University Press publishes book series in in the fields of African American Studies, Literature and the Arts, Irish Studies, and Rhetoric. Please visit the series page on our website to view the complete list. A significant gift would allow us to build named series in areas already identified as key to our growth and impact: regional history, the natural sciences (including guide books), and sport studies. Please contact Alison Mero, Director of Clemson University Press, to learn more about the series we publish as well as to discuss areas for strategic growth that you may wish to support.

Support Open Access

Open-access publishing removes paywalls between research and readers, making access to information free and more equitable. However, publishing open-access content eliminates sales revenue traditionally used to cover the considerable costs of professional editors, designers, distribution, and marketing. Your gift would allow us to build our portfolio of open-access journals and ensure the sustainability of those already on our list. Please contact Alison Mero, Director of Clemson University Press, to learn about our open-access initiatives and how you might support them.

Sponsor an Internship

Clemson University Press is an experiential-learning lab for student interns and graduate assistants, who gain hands-on, professional experience in editing, design, and marketing. Students contribute to actual publications; they gain skills in industry-standard software and procedures; and they receive mentoring for pursuing future careers in publishing and related fields. An annual gift of $5,000 will fund a named internship. Please contact Alison Mero, Director of Clemson University Press, to learn about how you can support the student experience at Clemson through a named internship.

Marketing Fund

We aspire to reach the broadest possible audience for our publications and to acquire the most impactful books possible. Marketing is essential to building our reputation among readers and authors. Clemson University Press exhibits at 8–10 conferences and festivals each year, advertises strategically, and collaborates closely with authors to promote our books on social media, through our website, and at regional events. Your support will assist us in sustaining and growing our audience across the region and the world.

Become a Friend

Clemson University Press is a division of Clemson Libraries. Friends of the Libraries are friends of the Press and receive special discounts on all of our books and event invitations to readings, among the many benefits of membership.
