Exploring and Innovating with AI

Artificial intelligence is transforming how we learn, research and create. At Clemson University Libraries, we help students, faculty and researchers use AI responsibly and effectively. Through access to supported AI tools, literacy workshops and campus partnerships, the Libraries empower the Clemson community to explore new ways of discovering information and advancing knowledge. Whether you’re experimenting with generative tools like Adobe Firefly or using research assistants that search academic databases, Clemson Libraries connects you to resources and education that make AI a powerful ally in learning and discovery.

Understanding AI Tools at Clemson

There are two broad types of AI tools for finding information:

  • Subscription tools that are supported by the university
  • Free or personal subscription tools that are supported by individuals

The important difference between these tools is that the free/personal subscription tools do not have access to full text research that is behind publisher paywalls. Tools that are embedded in databases or provided by publishers like EBSCO and JSTOR allow AI to explore full text of articles and books within their collections. Other examples include the Libraries AI Research Assistant that searches the library catalog, Adobe Firefly for generating images, and scite.ai. Visit the AI Tools LibGuide to learn more about both kinds of tools.

AI Literacy Education

AI literacy is a set of skills, knowledge, and attitudes that allow individuals to understand, evaluate, and use AI technologies responsibly. The Libraries supports the development of these skills by providing many different kinds of instruction. There are online guides, live workshops, and Canvas courses designed to support research and learning with AI tools. Visit the AI Training section of our AI LibGuide to learn more.

Campus Partners in AI Learning

There are a number of campus partners who are working with the Libraries to educate campus about AI. Find out more about our partners here:
