Clemson Libraries offers Canvas course on AI and ethics

Clemson Libraries has partnered with the Office of Teaching Effectiveness and Innovation (OTEI) to offer a Canvas course about AI and ethics, in consultation with the Rutland Institute for Ethics and the Career Innovation Lab.

The course is open to any Clemson student, faculty or staff and takes 45 minutes to one hour to complete. It is focused on teaching key ethical issues related to using generative AI tools in higher education.

“As the use of AI continues to evolve — both in higher education and in the workforce — it is important for us to help our students understand the ethical implications of AI,” said Anne Grant, research librarian and AI literacy coordinator for Clemson Libraries. “We need to make sure we are doing everything we can to equip them to work with AI responsibly and effectively, because they are going to have to work with AI in some way in the future. It is here to stay.”

The Libraries also offers a Canvas course on AI literacy, which teaches basic AI terms and concepts, how to use AI tools in research, and how to think critically about using AI and its outcomes.
