An emergency opioid overdose reversal kit has been installed in Cooper Library as part of a university-wide initiative to ensure that people have easy access to life-saving medications in the event of an opioid overdose.
The ONEbox kit contains Narcan, a drug that can reverse an overdose or poisoning from opioids when given in time, and includes a video with instructions on how to use it in an overdose emergency. It was provided through a collaboration between Public Safety, Student Health Services, Clemson Rural Health and the South Carolina Department of Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Services.
Cooper Library is one of 22 high-traffic buildings on campus to receive a kit. It is located on the fourth floor, on the column near the exit of the building. There is also a trauma kit and an AED kit in the same area.
