This position performs metadata creation, enhancement, remediation, and quality control in the Metadata Services Department, University Libraries’ Collection, and Discovery Division. The metadata team provides opportunities for involvement in service, professional development, and presentation.
Responsibilities include:
- Metadata Creation (60%):
- Provides metadata for Special Collections and Archives digital resources using Collective Access. Populates records with access points using Library of Congress subject and name authority files, and other thesauri and vocabularies. Identifies metadata problems and uses team documentation, primary and secondary resources to resolve those problems. Applies inclusive metadata principles. Contributes to local authority files.
- Metadata Enhancement (15%):

- Enhances, remediates, and quality controls existing metadata or catalog records as projects are identified using appropriate software tools, such as CollectiveAccess, spreadsheets, or OpenRefine.
- Project and Team Support (15%):

- Collaborates with other library departments (Special Collections and Archives, Digitization, and Library Technology). Attends and contributes to team, department and division meetings. Tests, reviews and refines documentation. Supervises students or interns as needed.
- Compliance, Safety, and Training (10%):
- Complies with University, State, and Federal regulations. Maintains a safe and secure environment. Designs and completes an individual plan of professional development activities that supports the other job duties through a combination of training, courses, conferences, or participation in professional organizations.
Minimum Requirements/Education:
- A high school diploma. A bachelor’s degree may be substituted for work experience.
