We are proud to announce that Yang Wu, Open Resources Librarian at Clemson University Libraries has been accepted into the Open Textbook Network’s Certificate in Open Education Resources program. An alliance of higher educational institutions dedicated to fostering affordable education and alleviating student financial burdens, the Open Textbook Network promotes the use of Open Education Resources (OER), high quality, peer reviewed online textbooks and other instructional materials that are available to students free of charge. The Open Textbook Network cultivates new leaders in OER adoption and creative teaching using OER in higher education each year through training programs. Having been selected into the 2019 certificate program, Yang will take part in a rigorous seven-month training opportunity. He will engage in online learning on ways to promote and enhance OER teaching in academic institutions, network with experts who will mentor him on his work at Clemson and monitor his progress, and undergo a three-day OER workshop in Cleveland, Ohio in April 2019. As an institution dedicated to increasing undergraduate retention and enhancing student academic success through the development of innovative and affordable learning, Clemson Libraries congratulates Yang on his acceptance and wishes him great success in his endeavor to improve the lives of Clemson students.
