Clemson Libraries is hiring: Three faculty librarian positions posted

Clemson University Libraries is seeking applications for three 12-month tenure-track faculty librarian positions. Each of these positions require a high degree of collaborative leadership and initiative and will be critical to the Libraries’ strategic growth as an R1 institution.

Emerging Technologies Librarian and Director of the Adobe Studio and Makerspace — apply by November 13

The Emerging Technologies Librarian will champion experimentation and hands-on learning as part of our culture of innovation and lifelong learning. The Emerging Technologies Librarian will play a key role in continuing the Libraries’ momentum in supporting engaging, inclusive, multidisciplinary and experiential learning activities. This position will continue to cultivate meaningful partnerships with external and campus groups including Adobe Inc., the Watt Family Innovation Center Makerspace, and the Center for Career and Professional Development. The Emerging Technologies Librarian will collaborate with faculty, students, and staff to promote the effective use of emerging technologies, deliver training on Adobe products and foster experiential learning opportunities.

Required qualifications:

  • An ALA-accredited graduate degree in librarianship or other relevant graduate degree in another scholarly field as deemed appropriate by the Libraries
  • Experience developing training materials and delivering instruction for emerging and maker technologies
  • Demonstrated ability to establish partnerships and work in a team environment
  • 1-2 years of previous management/supervisory experience
  • Evidence of knowledge of current trends and new developments in emerging technology trends in academic libraries
  • Demonstrated ability to use and teach Adobe Creative Cloud products, such as Premier, Illustrator and InDesign.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of experience leading creative and emerging library services
  • Experience writing grants and getting external funding for emerging technologies
  • 2-3 years of management/supervisory experience.

Strategic Assessment Librarian — apply by November 10

This position works in a collaborative library environment to plan, promote, and sustain a culture of assessment across the Libraries and articulate the value of academic library services. The Strategic Assessment Librarian assumes a leadership role in planning, implementing and sustaining an assessment program for Clemson University Libraries. The librarian will identify and assess meaningful organizational performance indicators for improvement, including establishing procedures and monitoring all reporting mechanisms. The individual will lead strategic assessment across all divisions and work closely with department heads and librarians to pursue data-driven insight on library operations and user experiences, including collections, facilities, instruction, and library technology. This position works closely with the library’s Strategic Directions Facilitator to ensure alignment with the library’s strategic plan.

Required qualifications:

  • An ALA-accredited degree in librarianship or a relevant accredited degree in another scholarly field deemed appropriate by the Libraries
  • At least two years of post-MLS/MLIS experience as an assessment librarian or coordinator
  • Proven record of conducting library assessment projects and applying research methods (i.e., qualitative and quantitative research design methods)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of processes and software tools for collecting, analyzing, reporting and visualizing data
  • Experience creating custom dashboards or significant experience in Tableau or other data visualization platforms
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member to solve problems using sounds judgment in decision-making according to an established timeframe
  • Demonstrated excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Knowledge of project management applications such as Jira
  • Experience submitting grant proposals and the IRB process
  • Knowledge of accreditation standards and academic library programs and other similar reports for academic libraries
  • Demonstrated ability utilizing software for data organization and analysis (e.g., Excel, Access, SPSS or NVivo).

Data Services Librarian — apply by November 10

The Data Services Librarian will play a key role in continuing and expanding the Libraries’ research data services that will further support Clemson’s strategic priority to double research by 2035. The Data Services Librarian will support faculty, researchers and students in the discovery, use, organization, curation, preservation and visualization of data. The Data Services Librarian will cultivate meaningful partnerships with campus groups including the Division of Research, Clemson Computing & Information Technology, and the Graduate School.

Required qualifications:

  • An ALA-accredited degree in librarianship or other relevant graduate degree in another scholarly field as deemed appropriate by the Libraries
  • Strong understanding of research data management principles, data curation practices and data lifecycle
  • 1-2 years of previous experience providing research data services
  • Demonstrated ability to establish partnerships and work in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of data-related resources, repositories and data sharing platforms
  • Experience in promoting and advocating for data services and open access

Preferred qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of experience providing research data services
  • Familiarity working with new funding agency requirements, such as the National Institutes of Health
  • Familiarity with software and tools for data analysis and visualization
  • Previous management/supervisory experience.
