Some of our librarians have been participating in Clemson’s Brown Bag Series/Advanced RCR Training Offerings by hosting sessions. The Brown Bag Seminar Series is an opportunity for the Clemson University community to better understand research integrity and research compliance related topics. March 3, 2020-Research Misconduct

Summary – Scandals, myths, retractions, hacking…the world of research is rife with opportunities for unintentional and intentional misconduct. This workshop will present an overview of contemporary issues in research misconduct from study design through analysis and publishing. Recent case studies will be used to illustrate examples of research misconduct and will be used to frame discussions on consequences and best practices while conducting research at Clemson University.

April 7, 2020-Reproducibility, Open Data, and FAIRness

Summary – Confused about new rules about your research data? No idea what a DOI is? Like the idea/sound of “Open Data” but don’t really know what it is, how to find it, or how to make YOUR data open? Unfamiliar with the FAIR evaluation criteria for data? This is the Brown Bag for you! I’ll go over the basics of what Open Data is, how to make your data as Open and FAIR as possible, and show you tools and resources available to you through the university library. We’ll also have an open discussion about data in the news and some actual case studies regarding data management policies.
