A NYC-based jury has selected one of Bri Hermanson’s illustrations from Margot Douaihy’s forthcoming poetry collection Scranton Lace: Poems (Clemson, 2017) as an Edition 36 illustration highlight in American Illustration and American Photography (AI-AP). Regarded by creative professionals as the “books of record” and best sources for today’s top image-makers, American Illustration and American Photography are the premier showcases for editorial, advertising, book, poster, design, animation, and fine art created by illustrators and photographers.
The illustration incorporates relief prints made from actual lace manufactured in the now-abandoned Scranton Lace factory. Mirroring the narrative possibilities of fabric that is both luxury and utility, Scranton Lace occupies the space between the real and imagined. The illustration is mixed media: scratchboard, india ink, acrylic, and vintage lace.
Congratulations, Bri!
