Non-Circulating Materials

If a patron requests to check out material marked non-circulating, please follow these guidelines:

For public documents, during regular business hours, send the patron to the Documents Office for special permission. Check the item out in the Library Integrated System using the due date given. During evening or weekend hours, send the patron to the Reference desk for permission. If Documents and Reference staff are not on duty, ask the patron to return to the Reference Desk when a Librarian is on duty.

For reference materials, the Reference Librarian on duty will handle the permission and the check out procedure. If Reference is not on duty, ask the patron to return to the Reference Desk when a Librarian is on duty.

For material in the regular collection (marked or stamped non-circulating), the Reference Librarian on duty will handle the permission and the check out procedure. If Reference is not on duty, ask the patron to return to the Reference Desk when a Librarian is on duty.

For materials located in Reserve & Media Services, the Reserve staff will handle check out and permission.

Materials located in Gunnin Architectural Library and Special Collections are handled by the appropriate staff.

If a non-circulating item is needed for Course reserves, Document Delivery or Interlibrary loan, the staff will contact the appropriate unit or branch head for permission.
