The work location for this position is off campus at the Libraries Digitization Lab, located in the Library Depot at 103 Clemson Research Blvd, Anderson, SC 29625. The Lab's operating hours are 8 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Friday. Students may set their own regular schedules within these hours. |
Position Description and Duties |
As part of the Digitization Services team, the Turk '69 and Belinda Matthews Student Assistant will perform imaging via photography and scanning, assist with digital asset management, and perform quality control and digital preservation work to make rare and historical materials from Clemson and beyond openly available online. The student assistant will join the work of the Clemson Libraries Digital Imaging Lab to perform scientifically accurate analog-to-digital conversion of materials to be made available in Clemson Digital Collections. The student will gain experience with all phases of the cultural heritage digitization workflow, state-of-the-art cultural heritage imaging equipment, handling a variety of rare and historical materials, and principles and best practices of digital asset management. Regular duties will include: - Using scanners and camera systems to image 2D materials - Analyzing and reviewing digital images for compliance with standards - Using software to perform post-processing actions on image files - Organizing, moving, and renaming batches of digital files - Other duties as assigned |

PLEASE NOTE: The work location for this position is off campus at the Libraries Digitization Lab, located at the Library Depot at 103 Clemson Research Blvd, Anderson, SC 29625. Students should have their own transportation or use the campus shuttle's Research Park route to report to the Library Depot for shifts.
