Binge-Worthy TV: A Virtual Display

You don’t need Netflix. Our latest virtual display has tons of television series to binge watch.

What’s a virtual display?

Instead of filling a shelf with the physical books, we’ve pulled together a list of books and other materials about a topic on our Virtual Display guide. Browse the page, select a title you’re interested in, click the request button to the right of the screen and follow the prompts. We’ll pull the item for you and hold it at the Information Services desk in Cooper, or route it to the library location of your choice. We’ll contact you via email when your request is ready and you’ll have 7 days to pick up the item.

Couch hard, my friends.

Netflix (not really) and Thrill-ers!

PlayGet scary prepared for Halloween with our DVDs.

A shadowy figure emerges from a cloud of pumpkin spice and tells you this blog post is coming from… inside the library!

Okay, okay. We’re far better at helping you find scary stories than telling them. With Halloween coming up, we want to draw your attention to our seasonally-appropriate DVDs available for checkout. We have horror movies, thrillers, and sci-fi films. We even have categories for vampires and zombies and TV programs like Penny Dreadful and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Of course, some titles will appear in more than one of those categories.

Want something in a foreign language so you can convince yourself it’s studying? Not feeling subtitles today? Use “Limit/Sort” and select the language you want.

Only want items that are available right now? Mark the “Limit search to items not checked out” checkbox and click Search.

Have a few days to spare? We can even borrow titles we don’t own from other academic libraries!

If you have trouble finding something specific, just Ask A Librarian! We promise we’ll only recommend The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari just this once.

And the Oscar Goes To…

selections from our movie displayThis month instead of doing a book display, we are celebrating Oscar season with a display of Academy Award nominees and winners. The display is located on Cooper Library’s 4th floor near the Library Services Desk.

Each film on display has a label indicating the category or categories in which it was nominated; each winner has a sticker indicating the category or categories in which it won. Catch up on an award-worthy film you may have missed, or re-watch a favorite before this year’s Academy Awards ceremony on Sunday, February 28th.

Have an idea for a display? Curious about displays you may have missed? Check out our Displays page.

Media Done Moving

Over the summer we moved lots of stuff around on the west side of the 4th floor. We started moving the media first and then we moved the popular magazines around. We got new shelves and things got a little crazy for a bit!

We are happy to report that not only are we done moving but we have signs to tell you where all the stuff we moved is located.

Click on this photo of the media to see it larger.

Please Pardon Our Rearranging!

You may have noticed that we are doing some moving around, taking down, and rearranging of the shelves and some materials on the west side of the 4th floor. Please pardon any noise and dust and carts and stuff as we work on this project.

We’ll keep you posted on what’s moving where when we’re all done! In the meantime, if you need any assistance, please ask at the Circulation Services desk.
