Get Your Technology Back on Time

Technology items (cameras, tripods, projectors, etc.) have a check-out period of 3 days and can NOT be renewed or extended, even during holidays or breaks including the upcoming Spring Break.

If you’re thinking, “I’ll just turn my stuff in a few days late…” Remember, overdue fees for technology items are $20.00 day and overdue fees for accessories are $5.00 a day. So, it could get real expensive real quick.

The library hours for spring break will be reduced, so pay attention to them and get your stuff back on time.

Have a great break!

Virtual Reality Petting Zoo Today!

It’s not a virtual “petting zoo”; there are no animals. But there is lots of cool equipment.

It’s a time where you can stop by and look at, play with, experience the equipment we have for virtual reality. Look for the table in the lobby of Cooper Library, today, Wednesday, February 21, from noon until 2:00pm.

Take 10 minutes of your day to stop by and try out the available headsets and other equipment.

Play games, make art, or explore the planet!

Hosted by Cooper Library and Virtual Reality Club.

Changes to Circulation Policies

Well, that’s just fancy way of saying we’ve changed the amount of time or the amount of things you can check out.

Good news first — You can now check out up to 10 popular reading items (books & audiobooks) at one time. The amount of time you can keep the items will remain the same. These items now have the same check-out limits as other media items (DVDs, CDs) located in Learning Commons West.

Not so good news — The number of days Virtual Reality equipment can be checked out will decrease from 7 days to 3 days. We are changing this due to the extremely long wait list – it’s consistently been over 20 weeks for most items since we started circulating them last January! A shorter checkout period will allow more of you to experiment with the technology, which we’ve been told is the primary reason for checkout.

In relation to VR equipment, you might also want to know about the new Clemson Immersive Space in Watt 308. This is a student-led initiative and offers a place you can visit to try out VR equipment and ours is all checked out.

All Technology Due Dec. 20

CameraAll library technology (cameras, projectors, etc.) items checked out are due by Wednesday, December 20.

Over winter break, we’ll be doing routine maintenance and repair on all our technology. In order to make sure we examine everything, we are suspending check out of technology until Tuesday, January 2, 2018.

Being able to inspect everything will allow us to provide you the best quality technology. Thanks for your cooperation and best of luck on your exams.

BIOL Bone Boxes are Back

Hey BIOL 3150 students! The bone boxes are back for checkout. We have boxes for upper limbs, lower limbs, cranial, and miscellaneous.

They are on reserve for 2 Hour Library Use Only loan period with no renewals. Since the boxes are very popular and often have a wait list, you can also go to AnatomyTv to study.

Ask for them at the Library Services Desk.

Photographing the Eclipse

So, you want to capture this once-in-a-lifetime event. In a word, don’t. Or be really careful.

Photographing the solar eclipse comes with challenges, including potential damage to eyes and camera equipment from the sun’s rays. Certified solar filters are needed to photograph any portion of the eclipse except the totality phase. We do not have filters available for checkout.

Eclipse sunglasses are not suitable for protecting technology equipment. Please do not attempt to directly photograph or video the solar eclipse in a manner that would damage the technology.

Canon has information regarding their brand and the eclipse. Nikon also has information for their brand.

Remember users are responsible for any damages and/or replacement fees.

Please see the Eclipse over Clemson website for general eclipse information.
